To work as an RN in Yukon you register with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA). New graduates apply for Interim registration (new graduate licence type), register for the NCLEX-RN naming YRNA as the jurisdiction, complete Yukon University's YFN101 course, and practise under the supervision of a full RN or NP until they pass; the interim registration then converts to full. Internationally educated nurses are assessed by Inspire Global Assessments first.

varies
How long it takes
Registration year April 1 to March 31; half-year licences start April 1 or October 1.
New graduates must apply within five years of graduation.
The ATT is issued after YRNA accepts your interim registration; it is valid about 90 days.
Retake after 45 days (Pearson VUE rule).
Renew before March 2 to avoid the late fee.
Mistakes that cost people time or money
Yukon's registration fee is the highest in Canada; if you arrive in autumn, the half-year licence from October 1 (CA$716.04) is the cheaper start.
Pick YRNA as the authorizing jurisdiction when you register at nclex.com, then email admin@yrna.ca; without the email YRNA may not know to make you eligible.
Enrol in YFN101 early; it is a university course with its own schedule, not a quick module.
Internationally educated: start with Inspire, not with YRNA; the YRNA application needs Inspire's report.
Questions people ask about Yukon
How do I register for the NCLEX in Yukon?
Create a profile at portal.yrna.ca and apply for Interim registration as a new graduate, with two notarized IDs, transcripts sent by your school and a criminal record check with vulnerable sector check. Register and pay at nclex.com choosing YRNA as the jurisdiction and email admin@yrna.ca. Once YRNA accepts your interim registration, Pearson VUE sends the Authorization to Test.
How much does it cost to become an RN in Yukon?
CA$52.50 processing, CA$360 + tax for the NCLEX-RN, and CA$1,068.72 for a full registration year (CA$716.04 for a half year), GST included, plus the YFN101 course. Internationally educated nurses also pay Inspire Global Assessments, with Yukon government funding available to eligible applicants.
Can I work in Yukon before I pass the NCLEX-RN?
Yes, as an Interim registrant, but only under the supervision of a full RN or NP. When YRNA is notified that you passed, the registration converts to full.
What is YFN101 and do I really have to take it?
Yukon University's Yukon First Nations course. YRNA requires proof of completing it (or the Kwanlin Dün First Nation Indigenous Peoples workshop) from every applicant, including nurses registered elsewhere in Canada and internationally educated nurses.
How does an internationally educated nurse register in Yukon?
Through Inspire Global Assessments' Yukon pathway, which verifies credentials, assesses English and competency and reports to YRNA. Then Interim registration, the NCLEX-RN, the criminal record check and YFN101. US-educated RNs with a BSN may qualify for an expedited pathway.
When does a Yukon nursing licence expire?
March 31 every year; renewal after March 2 carries a CA$52.50 late fee. Half-year licences run April 1 to September 30 or October 1 to March 31.
